CORP MEMBERS’ SERVICE IN THE MINISTRY IS CRUCIAL TO SAFETY AND SECURITY OF CITIZENS-GAIDAM

The Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam has commended the dedication and commitment of Corp Members (NYSC) for their service which is vital and crucial to ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our fellow citizens.

The Minister stated this during the presentation of a report on the Role of Corpers (NYSC) in improving policing in Nigeria held at the Education conference room, Federal Secretariat, Abuja.

The Minister said their role as corps members in the ministry is a testament to their willingness to serve and protect the country with honor and integrity.

He added that the momentous occasion of the NYSC Book Launch/Presentation program stands as a testimony to the unity, diversity, and strength of our nation, Nigeria.

In his words, “Remember that you are not just serving the Ministry of Police Affairs; you are serving the people of Nigeria. Your actions, no matter how small, can create positive change and impact the lives of those around you. Stay focused, stay dedicated, and strive to be your best version”.

Gaidam expressed that the NYSC programme is a catalyst for accelerated national development, and implored corps members to take with utmost seriousness the nation’s clarion call to selfless service.

“The future of this country lies in your hands.  You have a most important role to play in shaping our corporate destiny.  You must never mortgage this unique opportunity and you must not shun your responsibility towards the nation”. The Minister stressed.

He said the Corps Members posted to the Ministry to serve our nation, and their enrollment in the Scheme at this critical period when our nascent democracy is trying to find its feet places you in a historic position to contribute individually and collectively, to ensure that democratic governance succeeds in Nigeria.

According to him, “As youths, you are to champion the crusade against the social vices, such as yahoo yahoo, waywardness and unruly behaviors that have bedeviled this country. Vices such as electoral malpractices and political violence.  You owe it to yourself and to the nation not allowing yourselves to be recruited by agents of destabilization to truncate our nascent democracy.  It is, therefore, imperative that you make every effort to assist the Government to achieve the Scheme’s laudable goals”.

In his goodwill message, the Director General of National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) represented by the Federal Capital Territory, Human Resource Management (HRM), Assistant Director, Mrs. Chika Chris-moneke expressed the appreciation of NYSC for the conducive atmosphere created for the Corp members to come up with the initiative of contributing to the policing in Nigeria.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Sani Gwarzo expressed the commitment, zeal, and courage of the Corp members serving in the Ministry to learn and contribute to the policing development in the country.
