Planning, Research and Statistics
Units under the Planning Research and Statistics Department are as follows;
In line with its core functions, the division handles the Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of plans, programmes, policies and project, which is an integral implementation strategy designed to ensure that the envisaged deliverables and impact are achieved within a giving timelines M & E activities have been scheduled to be undertaken quarterly and with the the participation of all relevant Departments. This measure has the potentials of exposing more staff of the Ministry to be acquainted with the diversity of the nation and the complexity associated with monitoring of project in Nigeria.
In connection with the above, approval was granted for a nationwide Monitoring and evaluation (M & E) of project of the Nigeria Police Force under the 2012 Capital Project through the twelve (12) Task Team that was constituted. The exercise took place from 9th to 13th July, 2012 in the twelve (12) Zonal Commands. The report of the exercise has been submitted to the management.
The Division had been working with the Galaxy Backbone Plc. For the provision of internet service in the Ministry. The services which were already operational on the 10th and 11th floors of Phase III, 1st & 2nd Floors of Phase I, and has been extended to offices of the Ministry on the 1st and 2nd Floors at Podium L.
The Ministry’s 2012 appropriation for ICT had been applied to procure computer workstations and development of some software for the Ministry. Also, approval was sought for the upgrading of the Ministry’s Website and its management to ensure that records and information are readily available online to guarantee easy public access to such records and information as enshrine in the implementation of 2011 freedom of information Act.
The Division represented the Ministry in various stakeholder’s consultative fora. Especially with Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), Construction of wireless network facilities for the 10th and 11 floors of the Ministry.
The 2012 appropriated funds have been applied to enrich the Ministry’s Library with required security and policing books, publications, periodicals and newsletters.
Needs assessment was carried out in the Police Secondary Schools Libraries nationwide. Consequently, Provision was made for equipping of these Libraries in 2012 Capital Project.
Reference books were supplied to the Ministry’s Library for use of staff and non-staff during the period under review. The Unit represented the Ministry in various stakeholders consultative fora.
