The Ministry is to, among others initiate, formulate and implement policies and programs relating to policing and internal security as well as to provide supervision and administrative support to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Police Academy (POLAC) and the newly established Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF).

Information and Public Relations

The Press and Public Relations is one of the statutory units in every MDA including the Ministry of Police Affairs. The Unit has the statutory duty to articulate, formulate and project dynamic Information/Media and Public Relations strategy for Ministry of Police Affairs. The Unit is to build, improve and maintain good corporate image of the Office by projecting the activities of the Office to the public and stakeholders thereby keeping them informed of its core mandate and to crave for public understanding of the main functions of the Office.

Mission

To inform, educate and enlighten all stakeholders, the public and the media on policies, programmes and action plans of the government on policing in Nigeria.

Focus

To provide good coverage and wide publicity to all programmes and activities of the Ministry in the print and electronic media.

To create, maintain and sustain cordial relationship with stakeholders, the public and the media.
