The Honourable Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim has reiterated the need for the management of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) to take advantage of the review of the act to address any gap that exists in the revenue of the agency.

The Minister of State pointed out that the agency must look for another avenue for resource mobilization noting that the Nigeria Police Force requires Rapid Intervention Projects to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency.

In her words, “all the training institutions, barracks, police stations, hospital and others require urgent attention. There is a need for new technology that would enhance the service delivery of the Nigeria Police Force. We have the biggest police force in Africa and have to leverage on the existing resources with sincerity of purpose”.

The intervention projects require a huge amount and there is a need for support from all the stakeholders noting that the Ministry is harmonizing the reforms in partnership with the stakeholders to strike the right connection for implementable reforms of the police force.

According to her, there is a lot of work to do and you cannot do it alone. You have to sit with the police to discuss and synergize with the Ministry to avoid duplication of efforts. It would be best if you worked with the police and the Ministry for an effective strategy that will improve service delivery of the NPF to the citizens”.

She added that the police are the obvious symbol of the Federal Government across the country. Every nook and corner of the country has the presence of the police, and urged all government agencies to capture the role of police from planning stages for effective national security.
