Consequent upon the recommendation of the Presidential Committee on the Reform of the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Government demerged the police Affairs from the Ministry of Interior in November 2008.
As per directives from Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Circular Ref. No .HCSF/PSO/155/13 of 31st March 2008, arrangement for the effective take off of the Procurement Department in the Ministry of Police Affairs, commenced with the deployment of two substantive Deputy Directors by the OHCSF to man the two Divisions (Capital and Recurrent) of the Department in January, 2009.The Management of the Ministry of Police Affairs held a meeting on 31st March 2010 and approved that the Deputy Director of Capital Procurement Division should function as Acting Director in the Department . This Ag. Director was promoted later to substantive Director vide Federal Govt. Service letter ref. No .FC.6243/5.1/vol.xxxii/33 of 14th March 2011.
